Original Reports: Cancer Potential Differences in Breast Cancer Risk Factors Based on Cyp1a1 Mspi

چکیده

Objectives: Recent studies show that an MspI polymorphism in the 39-noncoding region of the CYP1A1 gene is associated with breast cancer in African-American women but not in Caucasian women. In addition, an African-American-specific (AAS) polymorphism is located in intron 7 of this gene. We hypothesized that the AAS polymorphism may partially account for this race-specific association and that different environmental risk factor profiles are a function of genotype status. We studied both CYP1A1 polymorphisms to determine if African-American women with these variants have breast cancer risk factor profiles that are different from those of other African-American women.

A CYP1A1 restriction fragment length polymorphism is associated with breast cancer in African-American women.

We examined the role of CYP1A1 polymorphisms as potential molecular markers of breast cancer susceptibility in Caucasian and African-American women. The case-control study involved 51 women with breast cancer and 269 female controls. In African-Americans, the frequency of the homozygous MspI polymorphism was 3.5% in controls and 19% in breast cancer cases. The odds ratio of breast cancer with t...

Association of CYP1A1 IIe462Val (rs1048943) Polymorphism with Breast Cancer in Iranian Women

Backgrounds and Aims: One member of the cytochrome P450 family, CYP1A1, is one of the genes involved in the metabolism of carcinogens and estrogen, which has been identified to be associated with breast cancer, as well. Considering the known effect of estrogen in different signaling pathways, disorders in these pathways will affect the risk of breast cancer. In this study, we evaluated the rela...

Study of Cytochrome P450 1A1 (T3801C) Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in Patients with Breast Cancer in Mazandaran Province-Northern Iran

Background: Breast cancer is the first leading cause of cancer-related death in women. Pesticides which are excessively used in northern Iran are one of the most important risk factors for breast cancer incidence. The cytochrome P450 1A1 (cyp1A1) is a key enzyme in xenobiotics metabolism and SNPs of its coding gene has been verified to be important in cancer susceptibility. The aim of thi...

MspI and Ile462Val Polymorphisms in CYP1A1 and Overall Cancer Risk: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) is a member of the CYP1 family, which is a key enzyme in the metabolism of many endogenous substrates and exogenous carcinogens. To date, many studies have examined the association between CYP1A1 MspI and Ile462Val polymorphisms and cancer risk in various populations, but their results have been conflicting rather than consistent. METHODS To assess this...

Correlation of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 gene polymorphisms and environmental factors to familial aggregation of esophageal cancer among the Kazakh ethnic group in Xinjiang.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 gene polymorphisms and environmental factors to familial aggregation of esophageal cancer (EC) among the Kazakh ethnic group in Xinjiang. CYP1A1 and GSTM1 gene polymorphisms were detected using peripheral blood from 86 subjects belonging to families with EC and 82 control subjects. Additionally, a questionnaire survey was condu...
